Facial Rejuvenation in Bahrain

Provided by our dermatology team: Dr. Amal Fakhry, Dr. Samar Fakhry and Dr. Noha Elsayed, Dermatology Specialists. Last updated October 2026.

Over time, sun exposure, ageing, acne and everyday life leave their mark on the skin. Texture can become rougher, pores more visible and tone less even, and fine lines begin to appear. Facial rejuvenation brings together a range of non-surgical treatments that aim to improve the quality and appearance of your skin.

At Stanford Clinics in Bahrain, every facial rejuvenation plan starts with a consultation with a dermatologist, who examines your skin, listens to your concerns and recommends the treatment, or combination of treatments, that suits your skin type and goals.

What is facial rejuvenation?

Many facial rejuvenation treatments work by skin resurfacing: removing or injuring the outer layers of the skin in a controlled way. As the skin heals, it renews its surface and produces new collagen, which can leave it smoother, more even and fresher-looking.

Treatments range from gentle options with little or no downtime to more intensive procedures that need a longer recovery. In general, the deeper the treatment, the more noticeable the change can be, but the longer the healing time and the higher the risk of side effects. Your dermatologist will help you find the right balance.

Who it suits and what it can treat

Facial rejuvenation may help adults who are concerned about:

  • dull, rough or uneven skin texture
  • fine lines and early signs of ageing
  • sun damage, uneven tone and some types of pigmentation
  • acne scars and enlarged-looking pores
  • mild loss of skin firmness

It is less suitable for deep wrinkles, significant sagging or volume loss, which may need other treatments such as Botox, fillers or surgery. Skin type matters too: darker skin tones, which are common in the Gulf, have a higher risk of pigment changes after some resurfacing treatments, so the choice of treatment and settings is especially important.

Treatment options

There are several ways to resurface and rejuvenate the skin. Your dermatologist will recommend an option based on your skin type, your concerns and how much downtime you can accept. The main approaches are described below.

Chemical peels

Chemical peels use a solution applied to the skin to remove damaged outer layers. Light peels improve dullness and mild uneven tone with little downtime, while medium-depth peels can treat more visible sun damage and fine lines but cause several days of peeling. Peels are usually done as a course.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion gently exfoliates the surface of the skin using a device with fine crystals or a textured tip. It can freshen dull skin and improve mild texture, with little or no downtime. Results are subtle and a course of sessions is usually needed.

Laser resurfacing

Laser resurfacing uses concentrated light to treat the skin in a precise, controlled way. Fractional lasers treat tiny columns of skin and leave the surrounding skin intact, which shortens healing. Lasers can improve texture, fine lines, acne scars and sun damage. Downtime ranges from a few days to two weeks or more depending on the type and depth, and settings must be chosen carefully for darker skin tones.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a more intensive procedure that removes the outer layers of the skin mechanically. It is used less often today, as fractional lasers and other treatments can achieve similar results with shorter recovery. It needs a longer healing period and carries a higher risk of pigment changes and scarring, so suitability is assessed carefully.

Microneedling

Microneedling uses very fine needles to create tiny, controlled channels in the skin. This triggers the skin’s natural healing response and collagen production. It can improve texture, acne scars and fine lines, and is often suitable for a wider range of skin tones. Redness usually settles within a few days.

Radiofrequency microneedling

Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling combines microneedling with heat energy delivered into the deeper layers of the skin. The heat further stimulates collagen, which may help with skin firmness, acne scars and texture. Downtime is usually a few days of redness and mild swelling, and a course of sessions is normally recommended.

What happens during your appointment

The steps vary with the treatment chosen, but most appointments follow a similar pattern:

  • Consultation: your dermatologist reviews your medical history, medications and skin type, and agrees a plan with you. Some treatments need you to prepare your skin for a few weeks beforehand.
  • Preparation: the skin is cleansed and, where needed, a numbing cream is applied.
  • Treatment: sessions usually take 20 to 60 minutes depending on the treatment and area.
  • Aftercare advice: you receive instructions and suitable products for the healing period.
  • Review: we check your progress and plan any further sessions.

Aftercare

  • Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day and avoid direct sun while your skin heals.
  • Keep the skin moisturised and use only the products your doctor recommends.
  • Do not pick or peel flaking skin.
  • Avoid makeup, exfoliants, retinoids and acids until your doctor says it is safe.
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming and strenuous exercise for the first few days.

Recovery, results and side effects

Recovery depends on the treatment. Gentle treatments such as microdermabrasion or light peels may cause mild redness for a few hours. Microneedling and RF microneedling usually cause redness and swelling for a few days. Fractional laser and deeper peels can involve a week or more of redness, peeling or crusting.

With a suitable course of treatment, results may include:

Some improvement can be seen after the skin heals, but collagen builds gradually, so results often continue to improve for 3 to 6 months. Results vary from person to person and are not permanent: the skin continues to age, so sun protection and maintenance treatments help keep the benefits.

Side effects and risks. Common, temporary effects include redness, swelling, dryness, peeling and sensitivity. Less common risks include infection, cold sore flare-ups, acne breakouts and darkening of the skin (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation), which is more likely in darker skin tones. Rarely, scarring or lightening of the skin can occur, mainly after deeper treatments.

Who should not have resurfacing treatments. Many treatments are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active skin infection or cold sore, after recent isotretinoin (Roaccutane) use, with recent sunburn or tanning, or if you tend to form keloid scars. Tell your doctor about all medical conditions and medications at your consultation.

Facial rejuvenation cost in Bahrain

The cost of facial rejuvenation depends on the treatment chosen, the area treated and the number of sessions you need, so we confirm a price after your consultation rather than quoting a fixed figure. Your dermatologist will explain the plan and the cost before any treatment begins.

Frequently asked questions

Which treatment is right for me?
It depends on your skin type, your main concerns and how much downtime you can accept. Your dermatologist will recommend an option, or a combination, at your consultation.

How many sessions will I need?
Most treatments work best as a course, often 3 to 6 sessions a few weeks apart. Some deeper treatments may need fewer sessions.

Is it safe for darker skin?
Many treatments can be used on darker skin tones, but the risk of pigment changes is higher, so the treatment type and settings are chosen carefully and skin preparation may be recommended.

How much downtime should I expect?
From none for gentle treatments to a week or more for deeper peels or laser resurfacing. We will tell you what to expect before you book.

Does it hurt?
Most treatments feel warm, prickly or stinging. A numbing cream is used for treatments such as microneedling and laser to keep you comfortable.

Can I combine it with other treatments?
Yes. Resurfacing is often combined with Botox, fillers or skin boosters. Your dermatologist will plan the timing safely.
